The dialogue engages on the level of literary reconstruction, with an almost eighteenth-century taste for details, including biographical ones, ad hoc citations from the works, how to then make the connection, the shift into the other story - that of metaphysics Western after the fracture, let's say post-Hegelian? Here lies the major merit of the text, which concerns precisely the choice of an equally innovative exhibition strategy. It consists in reconstructing the figures of Hoffman's works, in the literal sense of this Latin term, translation of the Greek typos . Figure is what both self and other mean. And here the dialogue constructs a constellation of figures that precisely mean themselves in the Hoffmannian universe, but are at the same time a constellation of as many ideal motifs . The two interlocutors are immobile but this is not a defect, the constellation is mobile. At least in this it is platonic: it shows the relationship between ideas, precisely as figures . Thus the magnetizer, the personification of the ideal, Don Giovanni's Platonism, the otherness of the ego, the ideal-automatic doubling of the world are as if projected onto a scene. By its internal form, dialogue thus tends towards the theater - a great theater of ideas.
